Measure A

6/27/2000 Council Meeting
Mayor Stasek reported that she attended the County Board of Supervisors meeting discussing the transportation sales tax extension and informed the Board that the Council had not taken a position on this item. She also asked the Board to pass the item on first reading in order to give the City Council time to discuss this with mutual constituents. She stated that the first reading passed on a 3-2 vote.

Article III Recommended Projects

10/10/00 Council Meeting
7.1 Measure A One-half-cent sales tax initiative

The Mayor gave a brief background of the item, stating that the resolution before the Council tinight will authorize the Mayor to send a letter of support to the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) and the taxpayers for Traffic Relief Now campaign.  Another Councilmember stated that people who commute to work in Mountain View are an important component of the community and contribute to the economic vitality of the community.

4.8—2001-02 TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT (TDA), ARTICLE III RECOMMENDED
PROJECTS

Mayor Stasek pulled this item to highlight her concern regarding the advisory process in which $117,000 grant funds that were originally allocated to the Stevens Creek Trail project have been reallocated to diverse projects within the City. She said that while these projects are valid, she felt the money should have stayed with the trail. She also expressed concern that it is not realistic to reprogram these funds back to the trail at this late stage of the process. She then indicated she will not be supporting the item.  Mayor Stasek pointed out that, in fact, there was a trail project which was the ADA accessibility at the Crittenden access point included in the list of projects that were recommended by the Committee.
